Your progress stays on your device
The current app has no user accounts, advertising, tracking analytics or research-data uploads. Philipp Otto does not receive your gameplay history automatically. Online progress synchronisation through iCloud or Game Center is not enabled.
Information stored by the app
The app stores progress and preferences locally, including scores, completed missions, badges, reading marks, recent strategy replays, mission progress, the credit reserve and settings. These records allow you to resume play, review results and keep your preferences.
The app does not request access to your device location, contacts, camera or microphone, and does not collect your real health or financial information. Mission places, measurements and outcomes are illustrative simulations.
Maps, sharing and external websites
Apple Maps supplies background maps for some views. Loading them can involve network requests handled by Apple under the Apple privacy policy. The map locations are part of the simulation; the app does not use your physical location.
You choose whether to share a result image or a challenge. Challenge details include the mission setup, such as the world, simulation seed, model and constraints, and may include a score. They do not include your Apple identity. Sharing sends the selected content to the app, service and recipients you choose, whose own privacy terms apply.
Opening a research reference, support page or challenge web link contacts that website. Its hosting provider may receive technical request information, such as an IP address and browser details, under its own policy. These privacy, support and challenge pages contain no advertising or analytics scripts. If hosted on GitHub Pages, GitHub’s privacy statement applies to hosting requests.
If you contact support
If you email spatialrisklab@gmail.com, Philipp Otto receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. This information is used to answer your enquiry and resolve reported problems. It is not automatically combined with a gameplay profile or used for research.
The mailbox is provided by Gmail, a Google service. Email processing is subject to the Google privacy policy. Please avoid sending passwords, sensitive personal information or screenshots containing information unrelated to your request.
Retention, deletion and your choices
Local progress remains until the app’s data is removed from your device. Deleting the app removes its local app data under iOS storage rules; offloading the app keeps its documents and data. Device backups are managed separately by your operating system and account settings, so removing the app does not necessarily remove an existing backup. Copies of results or challenges you have shared remain with the chosen recipients or services.
Support correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle the enquiry, follow up on the issue and meet applicable legal obligations. You can ask to access, correct or delete correspondence by contacting the address above. We cannot remotely access or delete gameplay records held only on your device. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing and to complain to a data-protection authority.
Research and future changes
This release does not collect gameplay data for research, including from children. Any future research feature would require a separate explanation and an appropriate voluntary participation process before collection begins. You can use this release without joining a study.
This policy describes the current iOS and iPadOS version. It will be updated if the app’s data practices change; the date above identifies the latest revision.
